Tamil Nadu is writing a new chapter of progress; Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi unveils development projects worth US$ 45.7 million (Rs. 17,300 crore) in Thoothukudi.

Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated, laid the foundation stone, and dedicated multiple development projects worth US$ 45.7 million (Rs. 17,300 crore) in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi district. Emphasizing the significance of these projects, He remarked that they embody the spirit of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.' Notable initiatives included the establishment of an Outer Harbor Container Terminal at V O Chidambaranar Port, aiming to position the port as a transshipment hub for the East Coast. The projects also marked Thoothukudi's transformation into India's first Green Hydrogen Hub Port, featuring a desalination plant, hydrogen production facilities, and bunkering infrastructure.

In addition, Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi flagged off India's inaugural indigenous green hydrogen fuel cell inland waterway vessel under the Harit Nauka initiative, symbolizing a leap towards clean energy solutions. The dedication of rail projects, including the doubling of the Vanchi Maniyachchi - Nagercoil rail line and four road projects in Tamil Nadu, collectively valued at around US$ 553.3 million (Rs. 4,586 Crore), aimed to enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and stimulate socio-economic growth in the region.
