Tata Motors and Amazon have partnered to deploy 3,000 electric trucks across Amazon’s transportation network in India, marking a step towards the electrification of e-commerce logistics. The initial fleet of electric trucks was flagged off by Union Minister of Heavy Industries Mr. H. D. Kumaraswamy in New Delhi on October 27, 2026. The initiative aims to expand the use of electric vehicles in commercial transportation as demand for freight movement increases alongside India’s economic growth. The deployment will take place over the next three years, according to a senior Amazon executive.

The initiative highlights the growing importance of electrifying commercial vehicles alongside the adoption of electric passenger vehicles and two-wheelers. The transition to electric trucks can support greater energy efficiency in the logistics sector as freight transportation requirements expand. The collaboration between Tata Motors, an Indian automobile manufacturer, and Amazon, a global e-commerce company, is focused on integrating 3,000 electric trucks into Amazon’s transportation network across the country. The initiative reflects efforts to extend vehicle electrification beyond personal mobility to freight and logistics operations, a segment that plays an important role in supporting e-commerce and supply-chain activities.
