On April 17, 2025, Tata Motors announced that it had filed a record 250 patents and 148 design applications in FY25, its highest ever in a single year. These filings cover product and process development innovations, focusing on key automotive megatrends, including Connectivity, Electrification, Sustainability, and Safety (CESS) and emerging technologies such as hydrogen-based vehicles and fuel cells. The filings also span various vehicle systems, including battery, powertrain, body and trim, suspension, brakes, Heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and emission control.
In addition to these filings, Tata Motors also submitted 81 copyright applications. They received 68 patent grants during the year, bringing their total granted patents to 918. Tata Motors President and Chief Technology Officer Mr. Rajendra Petkar highlighted the company's commitment to nation-building through advanced technologies. He stated that the company’s continued focus is on shaping the future of mobility to meet the evolving needs of customers and communities.
