Tea exports from India rise 9.92% to 254.67 million kilograms in 2024 on higher output

India’s tea exports rose 9.92% YoY to 254.67 million kilograms (KG) in CY24, up from 231.69 million kg in 2023, according to data released by the Tea Board. Production in north India also saw a notable increase, reaching 154.81 million kg in 2024, a 9.79% rise from 141 million kg in the previous year. In South India, tea production climbed 10.11% YoY to 99.86 million kg in 2024, up from 90.69 million kg in 2023.
Provisional figures for Q1 2025 show all-India tea production at 69.22 million kg, marginally higher than the 67.53 million kg recorded in the same period last year. North India led the growth with a 14.38% increase in Q1 2025, producing 45.35 million kg compared to 39.65 million kg a year earlier. However, south India's production declined by 14.38% to 23.87 million kg in Q1 2025, down from 27.88 million kg in the corresponding period of 2024.
