Telecom sector sees strong fresher hiring intent for H1 FY25: Report

The Indian telecom sector continues to show steady workforce demand, with 45% of companies indicating intent to hire freshers in H1 2025, according to the TeamLease EdTech Career Outlook Report (January–June 2025). While this marks a marginal dip from the 48% reported in the previous half (July–December 2024), the momentum remains strong due to the growing need for specialised roles. The sector is evolving alongside adopting 5G, cloud-native architecture, and enhanced cyber resilience, leading to hybrid job roles combining telecom, Information Technology, and data functions.
Demand for specific profiles remains city-centric. Delhi (49%), Ahmedabad (41%) and Coimbatore (35%) lead in demand for Radio Frequency (RF) engineers, while Network Security Analysts are most sought after in Bangalore (48%), Mumbai (43%) and Nagpur (38%). Field Technical Engineers are needed in Hyderabad (55%), Kolkata (48%) and Indore (43%). Pune (44%) is prominent for Junior DevOps Engineers, followed by Gurugram (40%) and Kochi (35%). Chennai (51%), Nagpur (45%) and Chandigarh (37%) lead demand for Cloud Network Engineers. TeamLease noted that freshers with domain-specific skills—especially in RF Wireless Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Network Architecture—have an edge. Founder and CEO of TeamLease EdTech, Mr. Shantanu Rooj, emphasised that hiring is geared toward scaling and future-proofing networks. He added that academic institutions must align curricula to prepare students for these emerging hybrid roles.
