The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, launched the ‘Indian Mango Mania 2025’ campaign in Abu Dhabi to boost global visibility for Indian mangoes. Organised in collaboration with the Embassy of India in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Lulu Group, the event marked the beginning of an in-store mango festival at LuLu Hypermarket, Khalidiyah Mall. The initiative showcases premium Indian mango varieties, many with Geographical Indication (GI) tags, including Banarasi Langda, Dasheri, Chausa, Amrapali, Malda, and Mallika, among others, sourced from states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh. Ambassador of India to the UAE, Mr. Sunjay Sudhir, and Lulu Group Chairman Mr. Yusuff Ali M.A. inaugurated the campaign, reaffirming the importance of India–Gulf agri-trade partnerships.
The promotion also featured mango-based culinary products ranging from traditional Indian dishes like mango pulao and chutney to international fusion items such as mango sushi and mango-stuffed chicken. The UAE continues to be the top export destination for Indian mangoes, with India exporting over 12,000 Metric tons (MT) worth Rs. 171.28 crore (US$ 20 million) in 2024. APEDA Chairman Mr. Abhishek Dev highlighted the authority’s role in facilitating the airlifting of mango varieties and supporting the farming community through improved market access. APEDA remains committed to expanding India’s agri-export footprint by empowering Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), and agri-exporters, positioning India as a global hub for premium agricultural and processed food products.
