The Defence Minister of India and the Minister of National Defence of Vietnam held talks in New Delhi to carry forward bilateral defence cooperation

On June 19, 2023, in New Delhi, Defence Minister, Mr. Rajnath Singh held talks with General Mr. Phan Van Gang, Vietnam's Minister of National Defence. During the discussion, progress on several bilateral defence cooperation initiatives was reviewed, and both parties expressed satisfaction with the ongoing engagements.
Both Ministers identified ways to strengthen existing areas of cooperation, particularly in the areas of maritime security, multinational cooperation, and defence industry cooperation. Mr. Rajnath Singh also announced the gifting of an indigenously built in-service Missile Corvette INS Kirpan which will be a milestone in enhancing the capabilities of the Vietnam People’s Navy.
The Vietnamese Defence Minister visited Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) headquarters as part of his engagements and discussed methods to improve defence industrial capabilities through collaboration in research and joint manufacturing.
