The "Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar" is a new set of national awards for innovation, technology, and science that have been introduced by the Government of India.
The goal of the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar (RVP) is to recognise the worthy and inspirational contributions made by scientists, technologists, and innovators individually or in groups in a variety of technology-driven innovation disciplines.
One of India's highest honours in the fields of science, technology, and innovation will be the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar.
The people who will be eligible for the awards will be the scientists, technologists, and innovators who have made outstanding contributions in the form of path-breaking research, innovation, or discovery in any area of science, technology, or technology-led innovation. These individuals may be employed by the government, private sector organisations, or individuals working outside of any organisation. The awards are also open to anyone of Indian origin living abroad who has made outstanding contributions to the Indian society or community.
There will be four categories in which the awards will be given-
The 13 domains of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics & Computer Science, Earth Science, Medicine, Engineering Science, Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Technology & Innovation, Atomic Energy, Space Science and Technology, and others are where the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar will be awarded.
The Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar Committee (RVPC), which will be led by the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India and comprise Secretaries of Science Departments, members of Science and Engineering Academies, and some distinguished scientists and technologists from various fields of science and technology, will review all nominations for the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar awards.
Every year on January 14, nominations for this collection of awards will be accepted until February 28, which is National Science Day. Every year on May 11, which is National Technology Day, these awards will be presented. On August 23, National Space Day, there will be an award ceremony for all prize categories. Every award will come with a medal and a Sanad.
The Government of India has taken a revolutionary step by establishing these new National Awards to recognise scientific community accomplishments at the highest level. With transparency and fairness in the entire selection process, work done by all sections of Scientists, Innovators, and Technologists will be awarded providing at-par status with other National Awards
