The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) expands global footprint with first overseas campus in Dubai

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has launched its first overseas campus in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This milestone expansion marks a significant step in India's efforts to globalise higher education. It aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 objectives, which advocate the internationalisation of Indian institutions. The establishment of the campus was facilitated by approvals from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr. Piyush Goyal lauded the move, reflecting India’s growing role in global education and the deepening of the India–United Arab Emirates partnership. Commerce Secretary Mr. Sunil Barthwal described it as a turning point in IIFT’s 62-year history and a testament to India’s ability to deliver world-class international trade education. Vice Chancellor of IIFT, Mr. Rakesh Mohan Joshi, expressed gratitude to all government stakeholders and reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to excellence in research and training. The Dubai campus is expected to cater to global learners, support the Indian diaspora, and serve as a strategic hub for developing future business leaders with a global perspective grounded in Indian values.
