The longest river cruise-Ganga Vilas to benefit local markets and help in providing employment in the hinterland of waterways

The Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi virtually flagged off the longest river cruise, Ganga Vilas on January, 13 2023 from Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) on the Ganga River on National Waterway-1 (NW-1), which is scheduled to reach on March 1, 2023 to Dibrugarh (Assam) on Brahmaputra River (NW-2). A distance of about 3,200 km between NW-1 and 2 will be covered, via the Indo-Bangladesh Protocol route.

Ganga Vilas would provide employment to local boat operators, hoteliers, and restaurant operators to handle domestic as well as international tourists. It would also benefit the local markets and handicrafts. Therefore, it would help in uplifting the lives of people living in the hinterland of waterways by providing employment.
