The Air Expo Abu Dhabi 2024, held from November 19-21, marked a significant milestone in aviation, focusing on sustainable and innovative aviation solutions. The event brought together industry leaders from the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions, allowing airlines to form alliances with foreign carriers, thereby enhancing global aviation ecosystems. Group Chairperson of Sky One, Mr. Jaideep Mirchandani, attended the event and discussed the future of air travel, emphasising the role of advanced aircraft models, avionics, and propulsion systems. He also highlighted India’s potential in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production, stressing the country’s position as a key player in the sector.
He noted the need for technology disruption in the air cargo industry, particularly in last-mile delivery, with blockchain technology set to drive future advancements. He emphasised the importance of collaborations and mergers in the sector, stating that e-commerce, courier, and cargo operations must remain separate but interconnected. He also highlighted India’s air cargo market growth, driven by the expanding e-commerce sector. He pointed to the country’s technology-driven potential in air logistics. Deloitte India’s SAF report further supported India’s role in the global SAF market, given its abundant feedstock and exposure to Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) exports. Sky One, committed to sustainability, has planted 150,000 trees in Uganda for carbon credits and advocates for air cargo companies to invest in green initiatives to secure the planet’s future.
