Time for Indian products to be the best in quality in the world: Union Commerce and Industry and Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal at SRTEPC Annual Export Awards function in Mumbai

The Union Minister for Textiles, Trade and Industry, and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Mr. Piyush Goyal, attended the annual Export Awards ceremony organised by Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) in Mumbai. He stated that the days of producing two distinct quality levels—domestic quality and export quality—are gone. Soon, 2,000 goods will be subject to quality control. We must quit utilising inferior goods and concentrate on quality and expansion. He encouraged the industry members to actively participate in consultations, so we will receive products of the proper quality and requested to take advantage of the National Technical Textiles Mission and advance the sector with faster growth. He urged the sector to use Samarth (Scheme for Capacity Development in the Textiles Sector) to raise industry skill levels.

Based on data, Mr Piyush Goyal said that we are optimistic that this year's exports will surpass last year's record-breaking total of US$ 750 billion. The Minister stated that we should be proud of ourselves for achieving this goal despite global challenges. Minister recalled how the government was able to conduct Direct Benefit Transfer during the pandemic thanks to the Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile JAM Trinity. As the entire system has been digitalized, theft or pilferage is not a concern. The Minister gave the Welspun Group's Mr. Balkrishnan Goenka the Exemplary Award.
