After the meeting with Mr. S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister and Mr. Antonio Tajani, the partnership agreement of Mobility and Migration have been signed between India and Italy and now Italy will enable seamless movement of workers, students, and professionals.
During the visit, detailed discussions were held between both leaders about various issues including the West Asia situation, the Ukraine conflict, and the Indo-Pacific landscape. They also exchanged thoughts about the deepening of strategic partnership. Further, the discussion also involved the potential of Agro-Tech, innovation, space, defence, and the digital space.
Mr. S. Jaishankar mentioned that the support of Italy for our initiatives and the G20 Presidency is appreciable. He further mentioned that towards the end of their discussions, they signed the Mobility and Migration Partnership Agreement and the Cultural Exchange Programme.
Interestingly, Italy has the third-largest Indian diaspora in Europe, behind the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, with a population of about 1,80,000. As predominantly first-generation immigrants, employment mostly lies in the sectors like agriculture, dairy farming, the leather industry, construction, and the service sector.
