Tourism Minister Mr. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has highlighted the Government's continued efforts to strengthen India's position as a preferred global tourism destination through coordinated promotional initiatives in collaboration with state governments, Indian Missions and industry stakeholders. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, the Minister stated that the Ministry of Tourism undertakes a wide range of promotional activities across key and emerging international tourism markets to attract foreign visitors. These initiatives include tourism roadshows, food festivals, trade meetings, familiarisation (FAM) trips, diaspora engagement programmes and outreach activities with tour operators, industry stakeholders and the media. The collaborative approach aims to enhance global awareness of India's diverse tourism offerings while strengthening partnerships across the international travel ecosystem.
The Minister also highlighted the Chalo India Campaign, launched in 2024, which encourages the Indian diaspora to promote India as a tourist destination by motivating foreign nationals to visit the country. In addition, the Ministry regularly partners with social media influencers and content creators to showcase India's cultural heritage, natural attractions and tourism experiences through digital and social media platforms, expanding the country's global outreach. These initiatives complement the Government's broader strategy to enhance destination branding, increase international tourist arrivals and strengthen India's tourism ecosystem. By leveraging strategic partnerships, digital engagement and targeted overseas promotion, the Ministry continues to support sustainable tourism growth, boost employment opportunities and reinforce the sector's contribution to economic development and regional prosperity.
