Udaan helps over 400 sellers in electronics category notch sales worth Rs. 1 crore each

Udaan, a business-to-business eCommerce platform, stated on Monday, that the company has enabled > 400 sellers in the electronics category garner sales worth Rs. 1 crore (US$ 137.58 thousand) each in 2020.

According to the statement, the platform also included > 1.13 lakh new users in the category of electronics in 2020. Over the period, Udaan delivered > 160 million electronic products comprising 53 lakh orders across 12,000 pin codes.

The pandemic caused work-from-home in offices where working professionals relocated to their native in smaller cities, pushing large volumes of orders for electronic products from locations across Uttar Pradesh, followed by West Bengal, Assam, and Bihar.

 

The demand for electronic gadgets also boosted due to the high demand for these products after the lockdown.

 

As per the statement, in 2020, accessories sales were the largest on the platform. Over 120 million accessories and consumer electronics followed by 10 million mobile phones were sold on the platform in 2020.

Post lockdown period, within three months, Udaan also shipped 50 million electronic products, including audio and mobile accessories (19%), power accessories (16%), mobile phones (9%), computers and IT accessories (7%) and consumer electronics (6%), among others.

Udaan has built inclusive technology tools to fulfil the demand of brands, retailers and manufacturers, providing them with a fair system to scale, trade and expand their business.

 

Big retailers and brands such as Apple, SanDisk, BoAt and others have collaborated with udaan to leverage its wide distribution network and access new markets.

With door-to-door delivery services in Tier 1,2.3 cities across the country, retailers did not have to consider going to wholesalers in the pandemic and were able to access a wide range of choices at the great deals on the Udaan platform. Udaan portfolio comprises categories such as lifestyle, electronics, home & kitchen, staples, fruits and vegetables, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, toys and general merchandise.

Mr. Hrishikesh Thite, Head – Electronics category, udaan, said, “As people began working from home, the demand for electronic products from professionals and organisations expanded to enable their daily work, children's education and family entertainment. This trend has been visible across the country.”

He added, “The vendor-partner platform benefited as it was profitable across India by optimizing supply chain networks and strong access, while small retailers benefited from access to various of products at affordable price, with the accessibility of placing orders on the udaan app at every time, anyplace.”
