UIDAI seeds 10.97 million Aadhaars with mobile numbers in February, which is 93% more than January

Over 10.97 million mobile numbers were seeded in Aadhaar in February, 2023, registering an increase of more than 93% from the month before.

While 5.67 million mobile numbers were initially seeded after the applications of the residents, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) reports that the number increased significantly in February.

Residents have been urged by the UIDAI to connect their Aadhaar to a mobile number for more efficient contact when utilising welfare services and a wide range of volunteer services.

The increase is a result of UIDAI's ongoing encouragement, residents' willingness to keep their mobile numbers updated for various services, and UIDAI's facilitation. The use of Aadhaar has been announced for nearly 1,700 Central and State social welfare direct benefit transfer (DBT) and good governance programmes.

Aadhaar is being used and adopted more widely across Indian industries. Aadhaar verification transactions totalled 226.29 crore in February alone, an increase of more than 13% from the 199.62 crore transactions that were completed in January.

By the end of February 2023, 9,255.57 crore Aadhaar authentication operations have been completed cumulatively. While fingerprints made up the majority of authentication transaction figures, demographics, and One Time Password (OTP) were next.

The Aadhaar e-KYC service, which offers a transparent and improved customer experience and aids in making business easier, continues to play a key part in both banking and non-banking financial services. In the month of February, more than 26.79 crore electronic-Know Your Customer (e-KYC) operations were completed.
