Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh says, India is set to be major contributor to the world’s ‘Circular Economy’

Union Minister of State Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that India is set to be a major contributor to the world’s ‘Circular Economy’.

He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR IIP)-MSME Meet & PAN CSIR collaborations as part of ‘One Week - One Lab’ programme.

The Minister highlighted that ‘waste is the wealth of the coming times’ and it is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of India being central to global environmental action.

He stated that the only laboratory in the nation that celebrates ‘waste’ rather than wealth is CSIR-IIP, Dehradun. He continued by saying that this institution works for the coming generation. In order to grow sustainably, the Minister asked the CSIR labs to collaborate with industry and the MSME sector as part of a larger integration.

Dr. Jitendra Singh stated that India is committed to providing a growing population with dependable, affordable, and sustainable energy while achieving Net Zero GHG Emissions by 2070. However, this ambitious goal would demand concentrated and deliberate effort. Even while renewable energy has increased to 38.5%, India still generates most of its energy from fossil fuels (59.8%), with coal accounting for around 51% of that. Fossil fuels must be replaced with renewable ones, fossil CO2 emissions from outdated power plants must be reduced, and unavoidable carbon emissions must be eliminated through carbon sequestration. science and technology must be very important in this.

The MSME meet and PAN-CSIR Collaboration will highlight CSIR-IIP's outreach to its respected MSME partners, who have not only played a crucial role in the adoption of its technology but are also rightfully regarded as an essential component of India's growth story. The occasion will be a good chance for CSIR-IIP's MSME partners to voice their opinions and interact with other driven MSME co-workers. The discussion will focus on the advancements made by CSIR-IIP in medical oxygen technology, biogas purification technology, advanced PNG burners, and enhanced Gur Bhatti.
