Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal, highlighted the growing global trade and investment opportunities for Uttar Pradesh through expanding market access under Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). Addressing the UP International Trade Show in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, he said the state’s entrepreneurs can benefit from greater access to international markets as India expands its network of FTAs. Uttar Pradesh currently records annual exports of around Rs. 2 lakh crore (US$ 21.06 billion) and has set a target of increasing exports to Rs. 5 lakh crore (US$ 52.65 billion) by 2030, supporting the state’s broader objective of becoming a Rs. 94.97 lakh crore (US$ 1 trillion) economy.
The state has emerged as an investment destination, supported by favourable industrial policies and proactive industrial schemes, with investments expected across sectors and creating employment opportunities. Uttar Pradesh is strengthening infrastructure through expressways, modern airports and industrial parks, while expanding its presence in defence, semiconductors, electronics and other high-technology sectors. The UP International Trade Show features participation from six partner countries, international delegates, exhibitors and buyer-seller meetings, providing businesses with opportunities to connect with global markets. The state is also focusing on expanding exports, attracting international investment, strengthening tourism and building global recognition for its products and brands. Coordination between the Central and state governments, along with participation from citizens, youth and stakeholders from the trade and industrial sectors, is expected to support Uttar Pradesh’s continued economic and export growth.
