Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal, invited American manufacturers to expand their presence in India, partner with Indian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and co-invest in advanced manufacturing to strengthen resilient supply chains between the two countries. Addressing a business roundtable convened by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the interaction brought together representatives of small and large manufacturers from across the US. India’s expanding industrial base and skilled workforce were highlighted as key opportunities for deeper economic engagement, with the India-US relationship increasingly extending beyond traditional trade to investment, manufacturing, technology, innovation and high-value capabilities. The engagement also provided an opportunity for US manufacturers to explore partnerships with Indian businesses and identify areas for greater collaboration.

The discussions focused on expanding the presence of US companies in India, strengthening partnerships with domestic SMEs and promoting co-investment in advanced manufacturing. Greater collaboration in these areas could support resilient supply chains and create value for businesses in both economies. The engagement comes as India and the US continue discussions on the proposed India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement, with both sides working towards advancing the agreement. The visit also includes participation in the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting and discussions with US trade officials on the proposed agreement. The focus on manufacturing, technology and investment highlights opportunities for deeper economic cooperation between India and the US.
