India has taken another step towards expanding digital inclusion and future-ready skilling with the launch of five new Solar Community Hub Skill Vans by Union Minister Mr. Jayant Chaudhary. Developed by Dell Technologies in partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and implemented by the Learning Links Foundation, the initiative aims to bring technology-enabled learning and employability opportunities directly to underserved communities. The new vans will operate across Uttar Pradesh, Delhi/NCR, Karnataka, Telangana and Maharashtra, extending access to digital infrastructure, AI-enabled learning tools and vocational training. Equipped with laptops, interactive screens, internet connectivity and renewable energy systems, the mobile hubs are designed to overcome infrastructure challenges and ensure that quality skilling reaches youth, women and marginalised populations where they live.
The expansion marks a shift from basic digital literacy towards customised skill development and structured employability pathways aligned with emerging labour market requirements. The vans will support more than 50 vocational, higher education and community institutions, helping learners develop competencies relevant to future industries and evolving job roles. The statement further emphasised that the initiative combines clean energy, artificial intelligence and industry-aligned training to strengthen India’s future-ready workforce and promote inclusive growth. Since its launch in FY23, the Solar Community Hub Skill Van programme has reached 18 districts across 14 states and directly impacted 2.67 million beneficiaries. Globally, Dell Technologies operates 63 such skill vans across 12 countries, highlighting the scale of its efforts to bridge the digital divide and expand access to education, skills and economic opportunities.
