Union Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal held a series of high-level meetings with senior Greek ministers to strengthen economic cooperation between India and Greece across trade, investment, financial services, digital payments, infrastructure and emerging technologies. Discussions with Greek Minister of Economy and Finance Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis focused on expanding collaboration in fintech, digital payments and financial services, while meetings with Greek Minister of Development Mr. Takis Theodorikakos explored opportunities to enhance bilateral trade, industrial cooperation and investment. Deliberations with Greek Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Mr. Christos Dimas centred on strengthening cooperation in infrastructure, maritime connectivity, aviation, sustainable mobility and resilient supply chains. The engagements reflect the growing strategic partnership between the two countries and their shared commitment to enhancing economic integration and connectivity between India and Europe.
India-Greece bilateral trade has witnessed strong growth in recent years, increasing from Rs. 65,584 million (US$ 689.33 million) in FY21 to Rs. 14,206 crore (US$ 1.68 billion) in FY25, highlighting expanding commercial engagement across sectors. Both countries are working towards doubling bilateral trade to approximately Rs. 37,752 crore (US$ 4 billion) by 2030 by promoting investment, strengthening business-to-business collaboration and diversifying trade across sectors such as pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, manufacturing and technology. The discussions also emphasised the importance of building resilient global supply chains and fostering innovation-led partnerships to support sustainable economic growth. The expanding economic relationship is expected to create new opportunities for businesses, strengthen India's trade footprint in Europe and reinforce bilateral cooperation across strategic sectors.
