Ahead of the 75th anniversary of the India-Switzerland Friendship Treaty, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Mr. Piyush Goyal, met with a business group led by Member of the Swiss Federal Council, Mr. Guy Parmelin. Both parties discussed methods to increase trade and investment, and strengthening the connection between India and Switzerland.
Switzerland and India have established cordial connections based on their dedication to democracy and the rule of law ever since India gained its independence. A important turning point in India-Swiss ties occurred on August 14, 1948, when both countries signed a Treaty of Friendship in New Delhi, making it the first treaty of its kind to be signed by an independent India.
Both countries have joint ventures in a variety of fields, including science and technology, travel, railroads, skill development, and climate change.
