The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles, Mr. Piyush Goyal called for making a strong database of all the start-ups in the country as it would help the public and private sectors.
He said that the database can help the government in the procurement of its goods and services and added that there must be a number of start-ups having different levels of success and are not there in any database.
He also asked for the views of the start-up community on further reducing the compliance burden, and simplification of processes to promote ease of doing business in the country.
Mr. Piyush Goyal also talked about the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) and said that it is a Unified Payments Interface (UPI) type protocol that would help e-commerce businesses adjust by onboarding crores of small retailers in the country. Additionally, he mentioned that ONDC would help promote mom-and-pop stores.
