Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr. Piyush Goyal, during his official visit to France, addressed the India-France Business Conference, showcasing the 'India Opportunity' built on a skilled workforce, robust domestic fundamentals, and the government's commitment to ease of doing business. He encouraged Indian and French companies to deepen collaboration by leveraging shared strengths. He noted that stronger business-to-business engagement will further bolster the strategic partnership between both nations. He also co-chaired the India-France CEO Forum Small Group Meeting in Paris with French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and French Nationals Abroad, Mr. Laurent Saint-Martin, where discussions covered areas such as technology, artificial intelligence (AI), education, and startups.
In other key meetings, he met the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Mr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, reaffirming India’s commitment to a fair, inclusive, and rules-based multilateral trading system. He also held bilateral talks with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Commerce, Mr. Majid Al-Kassabi, to explore new investment opportunities and deepen economic cooperation. In a separate meeting with Mr. Laurent Saint-Martin, both leaders reviewed trade and investment ties, with emphasis on enhancing business collaboration and establishing technology as a core pillar of the Indo-French economic partnership, particularly in light of the upcoming India-France Year of Innovation 2026. The visit also included a review of the ongoing India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations, reinforcing both sides’ commitment to innovation-led growth and mutual economic advancement.
