Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr. Piyush Goyal Holds High-Level Engagements in the Netherlands to Strengthen Trade and Investment Ties

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr. Piyush Goyal continued his visit to the Netherlands on October 26, 2026, with high-level engagements involving Dutch government leaders, parliamentarians and business representatives to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and expand trade and investment. Meetings with Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Mr. Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Ms. Heleen Herbert and King’s Commissioner of North Holland Mr. Arthur van Dijk covered bilateral economic relations and opportunities for collaboration. Engagements with members of the Dutch House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation and the Senate Committee on European Affairs also provided a platform to discuss trade, investment and the broader India-European Union economic partnership.

The India–Netherlands Business Forum, jointly chaired by Mr. Piyush Goyal and Mr. Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, brought together approximately 200 participants from Indian and Dutch businesses. Discussions focused on opportunities arising from the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, including expanding bilateral trade, improving market access, strengthening investment partnerships and integrating supply chains. Industry engagements included meetings with chief executives from companies operating in semiconductors, electronics, logistics, energy, industrial solutions, technology and retail. A separate roundtable with executives from 15 Dutch companies, organised by the Indian Embassy in The Hague in collaboration with HSBC Netherlands, explored investment opportunities and commercial partnerships. The visit also highlighted the Netherlands’ role as a gateway to European markets and the potential to expand trade, investment and technology partnerships following the elevation of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership and the conclusion of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.
