Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr. Piyush Goyal Leads a 200-Member Business Delegation to Japan

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr. Piyush Goyal will visit Japan from August 24-27, 2026, leading India's largest-ever business delegation to the country, comprising more than 200 business representatives from sectors including manufacturing, semiconductors, clean energy, steel, automotive, financial services, healthcare and start-ups. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties and deepen cooperation under the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership. In Tokyo, Mr. Piyush Goyal will meet senior representatives of major Japanese companies and participate in a roundtable with Keidanren, Japan Business Federation. Dedicated discussions will focus on semiconductors and artificial intelligence, start-ups and foreign institutional investors. He will also hold bilateral discussions with Mr. Akazawa Ryosei, Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and engage with senior members of the Japanese Government and Parliament.

In Nagoya, the Minister will lead a roadshow with the Central Japan Economic Federation and Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry and engage with Aichi Prefecture leaders and major investors in the automotive and steel sectors. The visit will conclude in Osaka with an Investors and Business Roadshow and meetings with Japanese companies across electronics, industrial and consumer sectors, focusing on opportunities in India's manufacturing, clean energy and consumer markets. Japan remains an important partner for India in investment, technology and industrial collaboration, with Japanese companies having a significant presence across automotive, steel, electronics, financial services and infrastructure. The visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to bilateral trade and investment, while creating opportunities for cooperation in high-technology manufacturing and next-generation industries aligned with India's long-term economic development goals.
