Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles, Mr. Piyush Goyal releases the “Logistics Ease Across Different State (LEADS) 2023”

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles, Mr. Piyush Goyal, released the "Logistics Ease Across Different State (LEADS) 2023" report in New Delhi on December 16, 2023. The report aims to guide states and union territories in transformative logistics reforms, fostering healthy competition. He emphasized key initiatives such as PM GatiShakti infrastructure planning, 'industry' status for logistics, multimodal connectivity, and digitalization. He urged a focus on skill development, capacity building, and green logistics, seeing the logistics sector as crucial for India's growth to USD 35 trillion by 2047.

DPIIT Secretary Mr. Rajesh Kumar Singh highlighted digitization's role in reducing logistics costs. Over the past nine years, there's been a focus on logistics reforms, including Ease of Doing Business and reducing compliance burdens. The launch involved senior officials and industry representatives in constructive dialogues.

The recently launched LEADS 2023 report, the 5th edition of the Logistics Ease Across Different State initiative, provides valuable insights into the logistics performance of states and union territories. It highlights a positive shift in performance across key pillars and empowers governments with region-specific information for informed decision-making. Special Secretary (Logistics), DPIIT, Ms. Sumita Dawra, emphasized the collaborative development of LEADS 2023, focusing on its objectivity in assessing infrastructure and process-related reforms. The event included sessions on leveraging data and technologies for easing logistics and promoting green and sustainable logistics. Efficient domestic logistics are crucial for national and international trade competitiveness and LEADS 2023 offers a holistic framework by integrating objective and perception-based data.
