Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles, Mr. Piyush Goyal launched a "Compendium of PM GatiShakti" in New Delhi to commemorate the two-year anniversary of PM GatiShakti. The Compendium contains some of the best use cases demonstrating the widespread acceptance and benefits of PM GatiShakti.
The Compendium was unveiled in the presence of Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Mr. Som Parkash, Special Secretary (Logistics), Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade Ms. Sumita Dawra, and other senior officials.
PM GatiShakti has been instrumental in planning more than 7,000 km of expressways over the last two years, with digital surveys via GIS maps accelerating field surveys. The year 2022-23 saw a significant surge in Final Location Surveys (FLS) for new railway lines, with over 400 projects planned, up from just 57 the previous year, culminating in the planning of a staggering 13,500 kilometres of railway lines.
The platform has also transformed the preparation of comprehensive surveys for petroleum and natural gas pipelines, cutting the process from 6-9 months to a few hours and proving a commitment to environmental conservation by minimising deforestation.
In this compilation, eight representative use cases eloquently demonstrate the widespread adoption and profound advantages of PM GatiShakti across the country. These cases cover a wide range of projects, including the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways' planning of expressways and Multimodal Logistics Parks, the Ministry of Railways' planning of rail connectivity, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's planning of green energy corridors, and initiatives such as the establishment of schools in underserved areas of Uttar Pradesh, etc. This compendium will be a crucial tool for stakeholders to understand the advantages and practicality of PM GatiShakti and encourage its wider adoption.
The execution of PM GatiShakti is reaching new heights under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. It is facilitating the development of Next Generation Infrastructure, Ease of Doing Business, and Ease of Living.
PM GatiShakti represents a ground-breaking approach to infrastructure development by leveraging data for informed decision-making. This technique leverages many layers of data that may be merged on GIS maps to expedite digital surveys, revolutionising infrastructure design and dramatically lowering field survey time and project schedules. It provides full visibility of connectivity points, reduces investment risks, streamlines governance for multimillion-dollar projects, and encourages economic and social connectivity.
