Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi inaugurates Windergy India 2026 in Chennai; Outlines Path to 100 GW Wind Capacity by 2030

India is strengthening its wind energy ecosystem with a national ambition to achieve 100 GW of installed wind energy capacity by 2030, supported by record annual installations, a strong project pipeline and a favourable policy framework. Mr. Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Education and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, inaugurated the eighth edition of Windergy India 2026 in Chennai on October 8, bringing together around 400 exhibitors from more than 20 countries and 500 delegates. India’s wind power capacity reached 59.20 GW as of September 30, 2026, while annual installations touched a record 6.05 GW in FY2025-26. Mr. Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Education and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, expressed confidence that annual installations would surpass this record in FY2026-27, supporting the country’s progress towards its 100 GW target. The continued expansion is expected to strengthen India’s wind energy capabilities and create opportunities across the domestic wind energy value chain, while supporting the country’s broader renewable energy transition.

Windergy India 2026 is providing a platform for collaboration, technology exchange and partnerships across the global wind energy ecosystem, with dedicated country pavilions from Denmark, Germany and Spain. Thiru C.T.R.
