United Nations lauds India’s G-20 Presidency for highlighting a number of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) like no poverty, zero hunger, good health and wellbeing, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation

At the Joint Valedictory Session of the 57TH Capacity Building Programme of the Civil Servants of Bangladesh and Arunachal Pradesh Mr. Shombi Sharp, the resident coordinator for the United Nations (UN) , praised India's G-20 presidency for emphasising several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) like no poverty, zero hunger, good health and wellbeing, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation. He stated that India's G-20 Presidency has become SDG-20 Presidency as it is raising a strong voice to close financial gaps. He noted that four rising economies—Indonesia, India, Brazil, and South Africa—will be holding the G-20 Presidency in the coming year as a result, raising concerns that pertain to developing nations and serving as the Voice of the Global South.

According to him, the SDG Summit will take place in New York two weeks after India assumes the G-20 presidency. 192 United Nations member nations adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in 2015 as part of the 2030 agenda. the UN is in favour of India's green transition because it has pledged to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. He stated that some of the main features of India's High Growth Model are Digital Revolution, Low Carbon Economic Model, Women-Led Government with Gender Equality and Women Empowerment.

Mr. Bharat Lal, DG, National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), stated that improving the standard of living for the average person should be the ultimate purpose of every civil service. He emphasised that India is witnessing a significant shift in assuring the delivery of public services and enhancing the quality of life for its population under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. The NCGG is committed to encouraging collaboration and learning among civil employees in India and its neighbours, in line with the "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" philosophy championed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, to support the Prime Minister's vision for good governance, which places a focus on transparency, accountability, and inclusion. NCGG has started two capacity-building programmes for the civil servants of Bangladesh (57th batch with 40 participants) and Arunachal Pradesh (2nd batch with 29 participants).
