Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath, speaking at the inaugural session of SEMICON India 2024 in Noida, highlighted the state's progress in developing its electronics industry. He announced that UP accounts for over 55% of India's mobile phone production and over 50% of mobile components. These milestones are the result of the state’s efforts in IT, semiconductors, data centres, and electronic manufacturing, all undertaken under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. He also noted that UP has become a key exporter of consumer electronics, with Samsung operating Asia's largest mobile manufacturing plant in Noida and investing in a display unit plant. Additionally, the state has implemented the UP-Semiconductor Policy 2024, which provides incentives like capital subsidies, interest subvention, reductions in land value, stamp duty, and electricity charges to attract semiconductor investments.
He also emphasized UP’s growing role as a data centre hub and its recognition as one of the top achievers in the ease of doing business rankings. The state has granted industry status to the IT sector, enhancing its investment potential, and more than 450 online services are being offered through the Single Window 'Nivesh Mitra' platform to support entrepreneurs. SEMICON India 2024, a 3-day event, brings together global semiconductor leaders, experts, academia, and government officials, featuring over 250 exhibitors showcasing the latest advancements in semiconductors and electronics.
