Urban planning reforms are making the cities attractive destinations for investments: Mr. Hardeep S. Puri

The Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) Mission was commended by Mr. Hardeep S. Puri, Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs, for providing the National Urban Planning Conclave 2023 as a dynamic platform for developing a sustainable urban platform that can fundamentally support the urban development paradigm.

While addressing the audience at the National Urban Planning Conclave, Mr. Hardeep S. Puri stated that implementing urban planning reforms are making the cities of India attractive destinations for investments. He also noted that the Ministry has prioritised and incentivised reforms in priority areas with an allocation of US$ 1.82 billion (Rs. 15,000 crore) to implement various reforms.

He also emphasised the need for a comprehensive policy ecosystem that would guarantee last-mile access to services, improved operational efficiencies, area-based planning, the introduction of digital technologies, ease of doing business, and performance frameworks based on outcomes.

Experts, decision-makers, and visionaries will have a platform to influence India's urban planning future and promote inclusive and sustainable urban development during the two-day workshop discussions. Additionally, it will allow the State Governments and UTs to share and exchange their urban planning experiences, which will allow them to develop a road map for putting urban planning reforms into action for the benefit of city people.
