US$ 17 billion (Rs 1.37 trillion) worth MoUs have been signed for investments in Maharashtra

Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth US$ 17 billion (Rs. 1.37 trillion) have been signed at the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, revealed the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Eknath Shinde and termed it as a ‘big achievement’. He further said that this would generate employment for around one lakh people.

It was reported that the MoUs have been signed in the fields of hi-tech infrastructure, renewable energy, electric vehicles, steel manufacturing, and agro-food processing.

The Chief Minister stated he had appealed to everyone to invest in the ‘magnetic Maharashtra’ and added that the impact of the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s leadership and India was felt in Davos.

MoUs worth US$ 6.7 billion (Rs. 54,276 crores) were signed in the hi-tech and infrastructure sectors which will generate employment for about 4,300 people, along with agreements worth US$ 4 billion (Rs. 32,414 crores) were signed in the IT and fintech sectors which will generate employment for around 8,700 people. Further, the MoUs worth US$ 5.6 billion (Rs. 46,000 crores) in the renewable energy and electric vehicle sector were signed which will provide employment for 4,500 people.
