US, Australia among 6 countries interested in Tejas: Govt

The United States, Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines are among six nations that have expressed interest in India's Tejas aircraft, while Malaysia has already shortlisted the plane for its purchase programme, according to the government. Argentina and Egypt have also expressed interest in the aircraft, according to Minister of State for Defence and Tourism Mr. Ajay Bhatt.

He stated that in February 2019, HAL responded to a Request for Information (RFI) or initial tender received from the Royal Malaysian Air Force. Following that, in October 2021, HAL responded to Malaysia's Request for Proposal (RFP) for 18 aircraft, offering the twin-seater form of the Tejas. Other countries that have expressed interest in LCA aircraft include Argentina, Australia, Egypt, the United States, Indonesia, and the Philippines, he said.
