VinFast has launched its premium seven-seater electric Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV), the VF MPV 7, in India at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs. 24.49 lakh (US$ 0.03 million), marking the company’s entry into the fast-growing electric family mobility segment. The model delivers 150 kW peak power, a 60.13 kWh battery pack, and an Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI)-certified range of 517 km, positioning it competitively in India’s premium electric MPV market. The launch is strategically significant as the vehicle joins the VF 6 and VF 7, making it the company’s third India offering within a year. VinFast also plans to expand its retail network from around 50 to 75 showrooms by 2026, alongside 230 service workshops, reinforcing customer access and after-sales support.
The launch further strengthens India’s role as a regional EV manufacturing and assembly hub, as the VF MPV 7 is locally assembled at VinFast’s Thoothukudi facility in Tamil Nadu. This localisation strategy aligns with India’s broader push for EV ecosystem expansion, component localisation and export-oriented clean mobility manufacturing. With a strong focus on family mobility, inter-city travel and premium electric people movers, the product can create downstream opportunities in battery systems, charging infrastructure, dealership networks and EV financing ecosystems. The move also signals rising foreign Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) confidence in India’s premium EV demand and manufacturing competitiveness.
