Waaree Energies is on the verge of establishing a massive Lithium-Ion Battery Gigafactory in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of Rs. 8,175 crore (US$ 897 million). The announcement of the project is a significant move in the development of the high-end energy storage sector and renewable energy manufacturing in India. The new Waaree Energies Lithium-Ion Battery Gigafactory will be constructed in Rambilli in the Anakapalli district of Andhra Pradesh and has been approved by the Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board in principle. The new project will be one of the largest in the country and will cover the entire gamut of the battery manufacturing sector, from Lithium-Ion Cells to Battery Packs and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The new project will employ 3,000 people in the region.
The new Waaree Energies Lithium-Ion Battery Gigafactory will have a production capacity of 16 GWh and will be instrumental in providing a boost to the energy storage sector in the country, as it is one of the most important sectors that will provide momentum to the renewable energy sector in the country in the coming years. The new project will be a significant move by Waaree Energies to establish itself as an energy storage company and will provide a new dimension to the solar manufacturing sector in the country.
