We have tried to develop the health care sector in a holistic way: PM Modi

Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi said on June 10 that his government has worked to enhance the country's healthcare system holistically during the previous eight years. He was speaking after the opening of the A M Naik Healthcare Complex and Nirali Hospital, which was built by a trust led by Mr. A M Naik, the Group Chairman of engineering company Larsen & Toubro.

Mr Modi created the Mukhyamantri Amrutam plan, which covered up to Rs. 2 lakh (US$ 2,569.24) in medical expenses for the state's needy. Later, he created the Ayushman Bharat scheme at the central level, which covers Rs. 5 lakh (US$ 6,423.11) in health-care expenses for the poor people of the country.
