Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on Tuesday said in a strong message to China and Pakistan that all SCO member nations should value the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each other.

Mr. Modi's remarks at the eight-member Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) virtual summit came in the background of the Sino-India border line in eastern Ladakh, as well as Islamabad 's attempt to globalise the matter of Kashmir and participate in cross-border terrorism against India.

In the presence of Chinese President Mr. Xi Jinping and Pakistani Prime Minister Mr. Imran Khan, who were some of the national leaders attending the summit, headed by Russian President Mr. Vladimir Putin, the Prime Minister delivered the letter.

"India recognizes that to improve connectivity, it is necessary that we move forward while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each other," referring to India 's involvement in strengthening connectivity between nations, Mr. Modi said.

In his speech, the Prime Minister also addressed those making frequent attempts to "unnecessarily" introduce bilateral problems to the SCO in violation of the fundamental principles of the grouping.

"India has always been willing to operate in accordance with the principles set out in the SCO Charter. But it is tragic that repeated attempts have been made to unnecessarily introduce bilateral problems into the SCO agenda that violate the spirit of the SCO," Mr. Modi said.

Referring to COVID-19, Mr. Modi said India would use its vaccine manufacturing and distribution capabilities to support mankind as a whole in combating the pandemic.

India's pharmaceutical industry has sent vital medicines to over 150 countries in this tough period of an unprecedented epidemic, he said.
