On Monday, the Consulate General of India in New York, The Culture Tree, and the Children's Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) kicked off special activities and interactive programming aimed at celebrating the diversity of India and its people through dance, music, literature, puppetry, drama, food, and art, according to a statement from The Culture Tree.
Consul General Mr. Randhir Jaiswal said that We are ecstatic to deliver an Indian celebration to all of the youngsters and their families in New York. In all these years, we have been committed to highlighting India's freedom, culture, and achievements. While launching the program he added that, India@75, a worldwide celebration marking India's 75th anniversary of independence, is taking place in New York. Founder and President of The Culture Tree, Mr. Anu Sehgal said that we can offer cross-cultural exposure that can help shape knowledgeable, open-minded, and respectful individuals, while also offering ways for children and families from the diaspora to connect with and celebrate their heritage.
Fabric prints and textile design in traditional Indian symbols, colours, and fabrics, eco-friendly architecture, art creation inspired by Warli painting using crayons, markers, and chalk with guest artist Kavita Rajput sharing tips for making art inspired by Warli painting, story-telling, and puppet shows are among the activities that will take place until April 24. 'The Tree Hugger,' a performance and dance workshop that will employ Indian classical dance to portray the true story of legendary Amrita Devi and her three daughters who made the ultimate sacrifice in 1730 to protect trees in their community, is also part of the week-long festivities.
