According to a company statement, Tata Power Renewable Energy has signed two separate agreements to provide Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) with a total of 350 megawatt (MW) of electricity generated by its solar projects. These 200 MW and 150 MW projects, both of which are in Maharashtra, are essential to achieving the state's goals for renewable energy.
With the MSEDCL, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a major leader in the renewable energy industry and a Tata Power subsidiary, inked two large Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for the commissioning of two solar power projects, each with a capacity of 200 MW and 150 MW.
By the middle of 2025, the 200 MW and 150 MW solar systems should be operational. They will produce a sizable quantity of renewable energy annually and cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 428,800 tonnes and 311,200 tonnes, respectively. As part of the arrangement, the TPREL will supply MSEDCL with eco-friendly electricity that will help the state meet its renewable energy goals.
TPREL has tied up 930 MW with MSEDCL out of which 334 MW is presently supplied and 596 MW will be commissioned in the next 12-18 months. The total renewables capacity of the TPREL to date stands at 7,783 MW with an installed capacity of 4,118 MW (Solar-3,136 MW and Wind-982 MW) and 3,665 MW under various stages of implementation including the present 350 MW.
