Women freshers placements grew 116% YoY in 2023: Report

A report indicates a significant surge in the recruitment of female freshers by corporate firms in 2023, particularly from tier 2 and 3 colleges, with a remarkable 116% year-on-year increase. Job roles embraced by female students included Operations, HR, and Software Development Executive positions, reflecting a shift in recruitment trends towards gender-neutral roles. Notably, campus placements at tier 2 and 3 colleges witnessed a 7% rise, totalling 12,050 hires last year, compared to 11,310 in 2022.

In the wake of high-level departures, Infosys opted to promote internal talent to top positions, as highlighted by Nomura. CEO & Founder of GetWork, Mr. Rahul Veerwal, attributed female freshers' recruitment to hybrid work cultures, inclusive policies, and AI integration. Looking ahead, He anticipates BFSI and Healthcare sectors to be major sources of employment for freshers, with significant growth expected in EMPI. Additionally, average salary appraisals in the IT sector in 2024 are projected to be between 8.4% to 9%.
