World to witness 1st Indian in Space and other Indian in Deep Sea by 2025, says Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Minister of State for Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh

During his address on Bharat 24 News, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Minister of State for Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, unveiled India's forthcoming milestones in space and marine exploration. He announced the selection of four astronauts, including three Group Captains and one Wing Commander, for India's inaugural Human Space Mission, Gaganyaan, to launch by 2025. Concurrently, India plans its first Deep-Sea mission to send 3 Indians to explore oceanic depths in the same year.

He highlighted significant advancements in Northeast India, citing a decade of infrastructure growth driven by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi's initiatives. This includes new airports, expanded all-weather roads, enhanced connectivity, and developments in railways and waterways. The region has seen notable progress in human resource development, particularly in the hospitality and aviation sectors. Turning to Jammu and Kashmir, he noted a record tourist influx, approaching 2.5 crore last season, reflecting growing peace and development. He also acknowledged robust participation in the Amarnath Yatra and expressed confidence in diminishing terrorism threats.

In space technology, he emphasized India's expanding impact beyond satellite launches, with advancements benefiting agriculture, infrastructure, communication, and healthcare. He highlighted initiatives such as new geospatial and space policies, fostering a surge in private sector startups, nearly 200 since 2022, with significant investment inflows. India's leadership in quantum technologies through the National Quantum Mission and efforts to harness resources like the Himalayas and marine ecosystems were also underscored.
