Xiaomi and Dixon Technologies have collaborated to produce smartphones in India

According to the company, Xiaomi India and Dixon Technologies have partnered together to manufacture smartphones for domestic markets and for exports. To further the value chain of Xiaomi devices, the domestic electronics giant would also investigate creating a component ecosystem through its fully owned subsidiaries. By August- September, Dixon hopes to begin producing Xiaomi smartphones at a new 320,000 square foot Noida plant that is now being set up.

According to Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Dixon Technologies, Mr. Atul B. Lall, this partnership will leverage Dixon’s manufacturing excellence & superior execution track record & Xiaomi expertise & leadership in Indian business ecosystem and it represents a major milestone in Indian governments “Make in India” initiative. The government has previously recommended Chinese handset producers to collaborate with domestic producers in India to strengthen the supply chain and take advantage of the production-linked incentive programme.
