Brand India Engineering at INNOPROM 2016

India successfully showcased its strengths in the field of engineering at the flagship Russian international trade fair, INNOPROM 2016 held at Yekaterinburg, Russia from July 11-14, 2016.  With a comprehensive participation from the private and public sector across the engineering landscape, India, the Partner Country for the Event, was the main highlight at INNOPROM 2016. Over 110 companies from private sector, major PSUs and government departments like Department of Heavy Industries, Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Power, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, National Institute of Design and Bureau of Indian Standards participated at the exhibition.

The event has reportedly attracted over 60,000 visitors from over 70 countries during the course of the four days of the exhibition. The Indian delegation displayed exemplary initiatives and innovation in engineering under the brand ‘Indian Engineering’ and managed to reach a lot of potential investors. The strong India participation at INNOPROM shows the commitment of India towards India-Russia trade relations. 

The India Pavilion was inaugurated by the leader of the Indian delegation, Ms Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon'ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Commerce & Industry and Mr Denis Manturov, Hon'ble Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation along with other members of the Indian delegation including Mr Pankaj Saran, Hon’ble Ambassador of India to Russia and Mr Evgeny Kuivashev, Hon'ble Governor of Sverdlovsk Region. The Russia-India Business Forum with a focus on ‘Russia–India: New Industrialization and Industrial Cooperation’ was held on July 11, 2016 and attracted participation from Ms Sitharaman, Mr Devendra Fadnavis, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Ms Vasundhara Raje, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Mr. Talvinder Singh Bhasin, Chairman, EEPC India and Mr Shiv Khemka, Vice Chairman, Sun Group. An MoU was signed between EEPC India and Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI), which is expected to further increase engagement and trade between the Ural region and India. Heavy Engineering Corporation Limited (HEC) and a Russian Research Centre Company also signed an agreement for development of technology for strategic sector of HEC Ranchi. The Government of Maharashtra and Sverdlovsk Region signed MoU for collaboration across trade, economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian sectors. Uralmash and India’s SRB International have agreed to form a joint venture (JV) to manufacture heavy equipment for the steel and mining sectors. The joint venture “Uralmash SRB India,” to be officially set up in the next few months, will be the maiden JV between Russia and India to produce heavy equipment for steel and mining projects in India.

The participating states, namely, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand, held parallel B2B and G2B meetings during INNOPROM 2016. Apart from the Russia-India Business Forum, the session on Opportunities in Indian States highlighted the strengths of respective participating states. Overall, India was represented in over 13 sessions by various officials from government and private industry including Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), National Institute of Design (NID), Invest India, Sun Group, Bharat Forge, Walchandnagar Industries Ltd and Ace Manufacturing System among others. EEPC India was the lead organiser for India’s participation at INNOPROM 2016 with branding and publicity support from India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF). IBEF orchestrated a 360-degree branding and publicity campaign for India’s participation at INNOPROM. The branding plan included advertising by way of billboards, LEDs, Shuttles and Buses, in the Airport, City, Opening Ceremony, Expo and train stations covering all the entry and exit points from Yekaterinburg. The branding plan also included advertising in the newspapers, exclusive giveaways, Experience India visits of Russian journalists to India before INNOPROM 2016 and generating press coverage in India and Russia before and during INNOPROM 2016.

India has taken decisive steps to simplify processes and rationalise provisions to make it the most attractive investment destination. Be it high-end engineering, or the ability of provide customised manufacturing, India is moving towards being synonymous to quality, reliability & durability.
