Jalandhar is the largest manufacturer of sports goods. This industry flourished in Jalandhar in the post-independence era. Since then, this industry has contributed largely to the industrial growth of this region. The sports goods manufactured in Jalandhar are exported to major countries like the USA, UK, France, Australia, and Germany.


There is a separate industrial area dedicated to sports goods along with surgical goods in Jalandhar. These industries are mainly concentrated in three old areas- Basti Nau, Basti Danishmanda, and Basti Guzan. Now with modern techniques and better infrastructure, more entrepreneurs are setting up their units in Jalandhar and its adjoining areas.

Main products of sports goods include cricket balls, inflatable balls, shuttlecocks, badminton racquets, cricket bats, gloves and protective equipment, hockey sticks and balls, boxing kits, carrom board, chess board, sports bags, gym equipment, and treadmills.

Tourist Attractions

Wonderland Theme Park, spread over 11 acres, is located about 6 km from Jalandhar bus terminus. This park offers many thrilling rides. The water rides include bumper cars, flying jets, horror houses, boating, playhouse, flying dragon, and a sliding splash. There is an aqua dance floor, which has artificial clouds from where the water comes down like rainfall.

The Government of Punjab had conceptualized a mega project named as Punjab Freedom Movement Memorial in commemoration of the unparalleled sacrifices of Indian freedom fighters for the independence of India. The Memorial is aimed at disseminating knowledge about the rich cultural heritage of the state.
