Ambemohar Rice

Ambemohar rice got its name from its qualities with Ambe meaning Mango and Mohar meaning Bloom. Ambemohar rice gives off the mango blossom fragrance, hence the name. Having a powerful aroma and being short-grain rice, they are cooked on special occasions and are mainly grown in Maharashtra.

This variety is grown in the parts of the foothills of the Western ghats of Maharashtra in India. In comparison to the famous Basmati rice, they are short grains – 5.5mm.
