The India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), established by the Department of Commerce on July 11, 1996, marks 29 years of promoting the strength and diversity of Indian industry across global markets. Over the years, IBEF has played a pivotal role in shaping India’s economic narrative through targeted campaigns, strategic partnerships, and knowledge-driven initiatives. In line with Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat vision, IBEF has consistently highlighted India’s export capabilities and business potential. In 2024-25, it launched the ‘Discover India’ campaign to raise awareness of India’s diverse product base, spanning sectors such as tea, rice, millets, organic products, fruits, and Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged items.
IBEF supported India's branding across major trade events and international platforms, including its active role in the Bharat Mobility initiative that showcased India’s sustainable transport and innovation strengths. Over the last 11 years, it has collaborated with more than 50 export promotion councils, industry bodies, and Indian missions to facilitate participation in over 100 global events. The foundation’s portal, ibef.org, continues to serve as a trusted source of sectoral insights, trade data, and reports for global stakeholders. IBEF’s branding efforts have significantly supported sectors such as agriculture, food processing, engineering, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and plantation commodities. As it enters its 30th year, IBEF remains focused on enhancing India’s global trade presence, reinforcing its Brand India identity, and supporting sector-led growth. Its success is attributed to the continued support of the Department of Commerce, strategic guidance from its Board of Trustees, and the dedicated efforts of its team and partners.
