BCG-ACMA report projects electronics will make up 50-55% of a car's cost by 2030, up from 30-35% in 2020. This shift presents a major localisation opportunity for Indian auto component makers across sensors, ECUs and battery management systems.

The government has notified the Semicon 2.0 scheme with an outlay of US$ 13.31 billion to strengthen India's chip manufacturing ecosystem. The scheme aims to make India a key part of the global semiconductor value chain and create up to 60,000 direct jobs.

India is targeting US$ 433.43 billion in electronics production by FY31, with electronic component production projected to rise more than 14-fold to US$ 129.90 billion.

India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem is gaining global scale, with exports reaching Rs. 4.24 lakh crore in FY26, mobile phone exports expanding sharply and rising female participation supporting employment and domestic manufacturing.

The Government has adopted a comprehensive semiconductor talent development strategy, training over 100,000 engineers and 68,000 chip design professionals, while Semicon 2.0 with an outlay of US$ 13.56 billion will further strengthen India's semiconductor ecosystem.
