*In 2025, the revenue of the headphones market in India is estimated at Rs. 22,433 crore (US$ 2.56 billion) and is expected to register an annual growth rate of 2.45% (CAGR 2025-30).
*In 2025, India’s dishwasher market is valued between Rs. 596 crore (US$ 68 million) and Rs. 745 crore (US$ 85 million). The market is projected to expand at a CAGR of 3-12% over the next ten years, with annual sales expected to surpass 1,85,000 units by 2030.
*India is projected to become the fourth largest market for consumer durables by FY27, with the sector growing at an 11% CAGR. The market size is expected to reach Rs. 3 lakh crore (US$ 33.6 billion) by FY29, driven by increasing affluence, household penetration, premiumization, and technology-driven demand for smart and energy-efficient appliances.
Opportunities
*Tech players such as Play (a tech brand) are focusing on tapping the Indian consumer electronics market, developing an electronic components manufacturing base in India, and encouraging export.
*With robust growth, India aims to achieve electronics manufacturing worth US$ 300 billion in electronics and exports of US$ 120 billion by FY26.
*In February 2026, the Government of India increased the outlay for the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) to Rs. 40,000 crore (US$ 4.53 billion). By April 2026, the scheme had received Rs. 1.15 lakh crore (US$ 13.01 billion) in investment commitments against the initial target of Rs. 59,350 crore (US$ 6.72 billion), creating opportunities for domestic electronics manufacturing and reducing import dependence.

*100% FDI allowed in electronics hardware-manufacturing.
*In January 2026, the Government of India provisionally selected five additional companies under the fourth round of the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for White Goods. With this, the scheme now covers 85 companies, expected to attract investments of Rs. 11,198 crore (US$ 1.27 billion) and generate cumulative production of Rs. 1,90,050 crore (US$ 21.50 billion) over the scheme period.
*The Digital India initiative is set to drive e-commerce adoption in remote areas, while Skill India will create more technicians, enhancing white goods serviceability and establishing after-sales service as a key revenue stream for the industry.

*Between April 2000-March 2026, electronic attracted FDI inflows of Rs. 59,953.71 crore (US$ 8,030.05 million).
*In March 2026, the Government of India approved 29 proposals under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), involving Rs. 7,104 crore (US$ 751 million) in investments across mobile devices, consumer electronics, telecom equipment, automotive electronics, and hardware components, strengthening the domestic electronics supply chain.
*Haier Appliances India is investing Rs. 1,000 crore (US$ 114.1 million) (2024-2028) in its Greater Noida plant.
*The setting up of a Rs. 417 crore (US$ 47.6 million) Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) at Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. It aims to boost local manufacturing and innovation.

Voltas Limited, a part of the Tata Group, is one of India's leading air conditioning and engineering solutions companies. Established in 1954, the company manufactures a wide range of consumer durables, including room air conditioners, air coolers, commercial refrigeration products, air purifiers, water dispensers, water coolers, and air coolers. During FY25, Voltas retained its leadership in the room air conditioner market with a 19% market share and continued to strengthen its nationwide distribution and service network to support growing consumer demand.
